Museums Night 2020 – It’s All In The Bag
The next Museum Night will take place on Friday, January 17, 2020.
On this night the whole world is packed in your bag: There are those who tell stories, others who do magic or those who play, fool and even steal. For those who do not want to simply watch and be amazed, you can also unpack your creativity and maybe stash some goodies in your bag this night. A visit to us is worthwhile for many reasons.
Pocket Magic
"Pocket Magic" is the title of the show from master magician Magrée to be performed in our shop window with Lena Wilczek. In his exclusive program for this evening, the Swiss Grand Seigneur of magic will simultaneously rouse astonishment and inspiration in his audience.

Chatterboxes Calindo und Hilde
Calindo, ventriloquist and wizard of voices, and the wild Hilde are two oversized chatterboxes. When these two unpack their stories, you will hear all sorts of things. Thanks to her great life experience, Hilde has a lot to say about bags.

The Pickpocket
You had better not be fooled by his charm. Giovanni Alecci is a pickpocket of a special class. He not only shows how something disappears unnoticed from your pocket, but also how to prevent it.

The Pocket-Sized
Would you bet you do not have such a portrait yet? Select the bag, turn it upside down and press the shutter button. Of course the unusual headshot can be taken home as a souvenir of the unforgettable evening.

The Bag Players
The Sack Rally promises to be an absolutely thrilling race. Two pilots, equipped only with joysticks, employ maximum performance and impressive virtuosity to get their bag to finish first.

The Bag Manufacturer
Every bag made by Peter Fasnacht is unique. In his temporary workshop, the Swiss artisan will show you how they are created and what makes them so special.

When a bag starts telling tales, the end doesn’t come so quickly. In this unexpected encounter, you will hear a lot that you probably will not learn elsewhere.

The Workshop
Unpack your creativity and customize your own bag. Everything you need is there. Of course you can take your own artwork home with you. Everyone from 6 to 99 is invited to participate, if they want to own a bag like no other!

The Pocket Trick: our Bhaltis of the night
Sure, you can put a bag over your head. But when a bag unexpectedly becomes a hat, that's amazing. Our B’haltis can do just that. But as always: it takes as long as it takes. Patience is required.

For Big and Small Hunger
Do not forget: To keep you invigorated, the kitchen team at Ristorante La Sosta will conjure up all kinds of delicacies; and that all throughout the night. Come by and enjoy culinary delights. Bon appetite.
The Museum Night is an event organized by the museums of Basel and the Department of Culture Basel-City. On January 17th, 2020, from 6pm to 2am, museums and Cultural institutions will offer rich programs:
