Museums Night 2019 – hats make people!

The next Museums Night will take place on Friday, 18 January, 2019.

Everything revolves around hats on this Museums Night. We have put together a varied program for you in a tidy package including hat performance, magic, workshop, photo shoots, and much more. Of course, you can also become active and creative again yourself. Take a look inside and be inspired.

Tape that Hat from «Tape That»
The internationally renowned Berlin artist collective «Tape That» has already performed live all over the world. The group impresses with their art using adhesive tape, a thoroughly novel and unusual art form. In their eight-hour live performance, the artists will create their interpretation of a hat in our shop window. The work of art which will be finished by the end of the Museums Night is unique and can only be seen here.

We are getting an original hat made especially for the Museums Night 2019. But of course in a limited edition. That is why they will only be available while stocks last. Thus, don’t hesitate and prove your courage to wear a hat.

The milliner
For one night, Caroline Felber and her team of Hüte & Mützen GmbH in Lucerne are relocating their studio to the Spielzeug Welten Museum Basel. They will show how these individual accessories are created in a workshop atmosphere and give information about their rare craft to those interested.

Conjured from the hat
«Magrée», the multiple Swiss master of magic promises «Magic Moments.» This exceptional phenomenon in the world of magic will conjure interactive illusions out of the hat and captivate the audience. Be amazed.

Pimp up your hat
In the workshop you work on a hat yourself. The hat designers will help you to create your very own head artwork. A large selection of all the material you need will be at your disposal. Of course, you can take your creation home with you and wear it right away. Take a photo wearing a hat and share it with your friends on social media. We look forward to it. Hats off to hats! Let your imagination run free.

Make a hat of felt
«ChaPeau,»

The Museums Night is an event organised by the Museums Basel and the Culture
Department Basel-City. On the 18th of January 2019, 36 museums and cultural
